CSCS and CHAS
Construction
Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
The scheme
was set up to help the construction
industry to improve quality and reduce accidents.
Individuals who have a CSCS card prove that they have met a
recognised standard of health and safety knowledge to work on a
construction site, and that they are
capable of carrying out their job.
CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational
competence by contractors, public and private clients,
and others. They cover hundreds of occupations,
so whatever you do in construction there will be a card that is
suitable for you.
In these uncertain times, it is imperative that individuals can
gain access onto any construction site to work. As an employer
or individual working in construction without a CSCS card, you
are significantly reducing the number of building sites on which
you can work.
We can help large companies with hundreds of employees,
or individuals, to obtain their CSCS
card.
We will organise some training to help you to you pass your
health and safety test first time, and
advise on the correct card to apply for.

Contractors Health and Safety
Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
CHAS is now
widely accepted as the industry standard accreditation system
that provides a benchmark which demonstrates a company’s
commitment to health and safety, and
its compliance with current legislation. You can find out more
at the official CHAS website here:
http://www.chas.gov.uk/
Why get accredited?
If you find yourself wasting a huge amount of time completing
repetitive Health and Safety questionnaires, CHAS could be the
answer to your prayers! CHAS is established as the market leader
for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK.
Once you have achieved accreditation, information and
documentation relating to your companies health and safety is
held in a central database which can be accessed by
organisations who subscribe to the scheme.
These include;
Emergency services, government departments, and large private
companies, along with countless smaller developers and
construction organisations. You will see a significant drop in
the number of repetitive competence questionnaires which you are
asked to complete.
How can we help?
We cannot apply for you
(as that would defeat the object of the scheme!) but we can assist
you every step of the way. We will advise on the best way to
apply, and help you to complete the application.
We can help you
to produce supporting documentation and implement
straightforward, cost effective management systems which are in
line with the CHAS assessor’s expectations.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are considering becoming a
CHAS accredited company.
